What is your Life Kua (命卦)? Eastern (东四命)or Western (西四命)Life Group?
This school of Fengshui is called the Eight Mansion (八宅). The Eight Mansions system is based on the principle that mankind is imbue with an energy signature during birth that determines his favorable sectors and directions. Based on the date of birth, mankind is classified into with the East or West Life Group. If they are in the Eastern Life Group, their favorable sectors (in the dwelling) and directions are north, south, east and southeast. For the West Life group, the favorable sectors and directions are the remaining cardinal and inter-cardinals of northwest, southwest, west and northeast. The fundamental belief of this system is that the occupants will be supported (benefits them) by the house if the three important factors namely, the main door, stove and bedroom are in a sector or direction that is favorable to them – there is an exception with the stove.
In short, The Eight Mansions system is based on the theory by which if the house is correctly matched to the occupants, the house will continue to support the occupants. In fact the longer the occupants stay in the house, the better the Feng Shui.
How to determine your Kua Number (命卦)?
Basically, there are two groups of Life Kua (命卦)people, divided into 8 types (4 Eastern (东四命)and 4 Western (西四命)). In order to calculate your Life Kua, just follow the steps below: -
1) First add up the year of birth separately into two group e.g 1978 = 1+9 and 7+8 = 10 and 15
2) Then add them up to get a single figure e.g 10+15 =25
3) Further add the single figure to a single digit number e.g 2+5=7
4) For male, subtract 11 from the number to get the Kua number e.g 11-7=4
For female, add 4 to the number and further reduce to a single digit e.g 7+4=11, then 1+1=2
5) If the final number is 5,
- For male, subtract 3 from 5 e.g 5-3=2
- For female, plus 3 onto 5 e.g 5+3=8
After determine the Kua Number, refer to the table below for your grouping, auspicious and inauspicious directions:
